Announcement: Upcoming ACURA Event: Getting Along With Russia 4/29 at 7pm on ZOOM

ACURA April 27, 2021

On Thursday, April 29, at 7pm EST, The Committee for the Republic will host ACURA as part of their annual Russia Salon series. Details below. Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85325069326
Relations between the United States and Russia are as icy today as during the darkest days of the Cold War. President Biden has proclaimed President Putin a “killer” and labeled Russia a “national security threat”. In the first 100 days of the new Administration, more than thirty Russian entities have been sanctioned and ten Russian diplomats expelled. The great power is alleged to have meddled in our presidential elections, engaged in cyber-attacks against us and threatened its Ukrainian neighbor.

The Committee for the Republic sees wisdom in our Constitution’s sacralization of peace and a foreign policy of honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none. Salons explore how successive Presidents and Congresses — with the media in tow — embrace and promote a permanent multi-trillion-dollar warfare state. Great power antagonism, moral demonization and enemy-deficit disorder are the signature of the imperial ambitions of the Democratic and Republican parties.

A breath of fresh air, the American Committee for US-Russia Accord is a band of prominent citizens deeply concerned about the serious decline in our bilateral relations. Through the non-partisan, educational non-profit, Nation-publisher Katrina vanden Heuvel carries the torch of her late husband Professor Stephen F. Cohen whose early recognition of the dangerous return to hostility between the world’s leading nuclear powers was memorialized in his last public appearance in the January 2019 salon with the Committee for the Republic on his book War with Russia? This Russia salon will be led by Katrina, Jack Matlock (former all-star February 2015 salon speaker at the National Press Club), Nicolai Petro, Krishen Mehta, Cynthia Lazaroff and David Speedie. The topic could not be more timely or urgent.

The Committee for the Republic is a citizen-based, non-partisan, nonprofit organization founded in 2003. The Committee sponsors speakers monthly on challenges to the American Republic, including the military-industrial complex, too-big-to-fail banks and U.S. competitiveness.
