Karaganov told Glenn Diesen in a much noted interview that Russia is moving towards crossing the nuclear threshold against Europe . He says that any nation that does so will open up Pandora’s box, but also says it is “a myth” that once nuclear weapons are used it will almost automatically escalate to a global war. But he hopes that European “leaders” will be sobered up, because it is a moral/mortal sin to use nuclear weapons, which will result in the deaths of many innocents.
Most European leaders are preparing their populations for war with Russia, saying that war is “inevitable”. and “that is dangerous”. That is the main threat for the time being.
Karaganov advocates that Russia return both culturally and economically to Siberia as its center.
Karaganov says that the Europeans “are back to their age-old habit of piracy” and that many people he knows says that if this continues, Russia should punish them by attacking their ships and ports. He says that “if they steal our reserves, the best way would be nukes, and just one solo, and then demanding a return of stolen assets, of course with an interest of 200%”
Karaganov says there is an “overwhelming majority” of people in Russia demanding the use of more force against Europe.
Karaganov mentions that he was one of the authors of the idea of a common European home and of “all European security architecture” following the end of the Cold War, and that he persuaded Yeltsin to apply for NATO membership. He said the application was not made formally but it was discussed with European and American leaders, and this plea was rejected.
The “Rubicon was crossed after the rape of Yugoslavia”. Karaganov says Russia waited too long to start the Ukraine War, and it should have been prosecuted “more effectively”.
Europeans must change their elites, which he says is “the end game of this war”, then probably some relationship can be reestablished. But “Europe is not an interesting partner anymore.”
“The European Union has degenerated into something very strange and NATO is an outright criminal alliance.” Europe is no longer a beacon of high culture for Russians. Karaganov notes that Russia is not forbidding contact or trade with Europeans, particularly those who have remained friendly towards Russia. But “having a common home with this rot would be a disaster.”
Karaganov foresees a “piecemeal solution” to the Ukraine War, probably with some sort of “armistice”, but then the war will likely resume in the future with “a strong nuclear potential”.
He says Rusia does not need the “sub-moral” Central and Western Ukraine, which was always costly to the USSR and Russia, but looks for the rest of Ukraine to be returned to Russia.
A full peace cannot be achieved until the Europeans decide to “throw away this strange group of people who are called themselves European elites . . . because most European countries are now governed by mad hyenas and they are absolutely insane — they lost a sense of history, a sense of security, a sense of love for their people, a sense of dignity, and it is better for all Europeans to throw them away.” This will take time but hopefully when it happens the Europeans will return to their normal sense of history.
Russia needs to acknowledge that “Europe is the source of the worst of human history — racism, colonialism, serial genocides, and world wars. . . . Europe needs to be put under stricter control or fenced away from the world, not to poison it anymore.”
Diesen asks about the current situation in the war. Karaganov says he thinks that Trump’s intervention will prevent a decisive Russian victory at present, and there will be a “piecemeal solution”, unless the Europeans intervene militarily. At that point, I believe that Karaganov states (31:52 in the interview) “at that point, if the Europeans join the war, the problem will be solved, there will be no Europeans“.
Karaganov says that even in Hitlerite Germany, “Russophobia did not reach these levels”. The war hysteria is being driven by “the necessity of the European elites to cover for their own mistakes. And this elite is a complete failure on all counts, moral, economic, political.”
There is now “The European Problem” just as there was “The German Problem”. Karaganov says that “It seems that Germany is now again in the German mood, which led them and Europe to tens of millions of deaths in the First World War, and again the same in the Second World War.” Karagonov then begins saying “And even if they start again . . .” and his sentence is stopped as the video states that “7 seconds were removed for censorship requirements”.
“Germany is again becoming a problem for the world”
Karaganov ends by saying that the Russians made the mistake of complacency and by allowing a weakening of nuclear deterrence. This also was a result of serious efforts of Americans and Europeans to morally undermine deterrence. American overwhelming conventional military and economic power made nuclear deterrence unnecessary, but this situation has changed. Europeans simply lost their minds (not all Europeans, as Karaganov believes there are still many brilliant Europeans with goodwill towards Russia).
